Irmo PD releases more details regarding attempted child abductions
The Irmo Police Department is seeking the assistance of the community in identifying and locating a person of interest in the recent attempted child kidnappings mentioned yesterday. Recapping what we have so far, investigators are currently work leads on two (2) confirmed attempted child kidnappings.
The first incident occurred on September 27, 2017 around 6:30pm near the intersection of Friarsgate Boulevard and North Royal Tower Drive when an unknown woman pulled over her car and approached an 11-yearold boy and asked him to get into her car.
The second incident occurred on October 3, 2017 around 2:40pm in the parking lot of the church located at 6952 St. Andrews Road when an unknown woman got out of her car and approached another 11-year-old boy and asked him to get into her car.
Both young boys describe the woman as being a white female driving a red 4-door car. Descriptions of the woman’s top were that they appeared to have prints on them such as flowers and teddy bears and similar to “scrub style”, such as used in the medical and vet field. Investigators have been able to put together a composite sketch of the woman involved in these incidents. Attached are the sketches.
The Irmo Police Department appreciates the tips that have been coming in from the community and investigators are continuing to work with those leads. Anyone with information about these incidents, they are asked to contact the Irmo Police Department at (803) 785-2521 (dispatch center) (803) 781-8088 (headquarters) or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
