Fire Service, EMS and Sheriff’s department rescue boaters from the waters of Lake Murray
Gilbert, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County fire service along with crews from the EMS and Lexington County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a capsized boat near the Gilbert area of Lake Murray Tuesday morning. The fire service arrived on the scene, launched their swift water rescue boat, and rescued several distressed swimmers from the water around the overturned boat.
Deputies from the sheriff’s department arrived on scene with their marine rescue boat and took the distressed swimmers on board. They were returned to land and are currently being evaluated by EMS crews. According to Harrison Cahill, spokesman for Lexington County, one boater was checked at the scene and was released in good condition. The second was transported to a local medical facility for further care.
