Armed robbery reported at Cayce business along Airport Boulevard
Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – An armed robbery was reported Tuesday night at approximately 10:00 p.m. at The Marathon gas station on Airport Boulevard in the Cayce area of Lexington County. Officers responded after they received a report that someone had presented a knife and robbed the business. Police officers have not revealed what if anything the thief got away with.
Officers responded and immediately began to set up a perimeter in hopes of ensnaring the bandit who had fled the store. Crime scene technicians were enroute, and other officers were dispatched to local motels and other businesses to warn their employees to be on the lookout for anyone displaying suspicious behavior.
This investigating is still in the early stages. Police in the area have not released any details as of early Wednesday morning, and have not said if they had made an arrest or what leads they may have. They did immediately notify other jurisdictions close by who responded to assist.
Law enforcement officer in South Congaree had just finished their preliminary investigation into the armed robbery at the Rite-Aid. Officer have given no indication that they felt as if the two crimes were related. In the South Congaree robbery, the thief specifically demanded only narcotics from the drug store he held up.
