B-L Lifelong Learning Center hosts first Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Mackenzie Taylor) - As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the ESL (English as a Second Language) class at the Batesburg-Leesville Lifelong Learning Center hosted the first-ever Hispanic Heritage Celebration. The event took place on October 12th and was attended by GED students, LLC staff members, Lexington County First Steps employees and Lexington Three District Office administrators.
ESL students created displays to show off art work, music, books, and other mementos from their native countries. In addition, students brought in authentic food dishes that were shared and sampled by all of the guests in attendance.
Randall Price, the Director of the Lifelong Learning Center, said the goal of the event was to help create and foster an even greater appreciation for the diversity and unique backgrounds of the students at the LLC, as well as to build global perspective and reinforce the standards that are outlined in the Profile of the SC Graduate. He hopes the event will continue to grow in the years to come.
