Chapin Police to hold Fall Night Out on October 25

Chapin, SC - The Chapin Police Department is hosting its second annual Chapin Fall Night Out on Wednesday, October 25from 5:30 – 8:00 pm in the historic Beaufort and Clark Streets shopping area, and the entire Chapin community is invited to attend.

A number of the town’s public safety and law enforcement partners will be on hand with displays, public safety vehicles and information as well as fun activities for children and youth, food and entertainment. The goals of the event are to create greater awareness of resources to keep citizens and property owners safe and to build community among residents of all ages and backgrounds.

Some of the activities planned include a laser light show, a presentation by the Columbia Marionette Theater, rides on the Carolina Choo Choo Train, National Wilde Turkey Federation shooting range, several inflatables, music, and refreshments by the Doza Rizen Food Truck, Pelican SnoBalls and Tipsy Toad Tavern. The Chapin Explorers will have a finger print station and a fatal vision station. Representatives will be on site from SC Department of Natural Resources, Lexington County Public Safety, EMS, Fire Service and Sheriff’s Department, the National Safety Council, and SLED. Chapin High School’s Cecil the Eagle and Blowie from the Lexington County Blowfish baseball team will be on hand to take pictures with participants.

Chapin’s Fall Night Out is part of the National Night Out initiative in which police departments across the country inform the public about various police and community programs, including drug prevention initiatives, town watch organizations, or even tips on how to burglar proof your home, through community gatherings, block parties or festivals. Many communities host their Night Out in early August, but Chapin Police decided last year to schedule its annual event in the fall to encourage greater participation.
