GMS students ‘taste’ latest literary flavors
Gilbert, SC - Students at Gilbert Middle School tantalized their taste buds with books this fall at the “Café des Livres.”
School Librarian Sharmen A. Oswald hosted a fiction book tasting in the GMS Learning Commons. Students in sixth through eighth grade rotated through realistic, historical, scary, fantasy, sports, mystery, science fiction and graphic novels.
As they “tasted” each genre, students took notes on the book’s appearance, difficulty and interest. They also scored the books on a scale of 1–10.
Students gave the experience five stars out of five. Building on this success, Oswald plans to hold a nonfiction book tasting in the near future.
