South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – The town of South Congaree Police Department recently swore in a new officer to its force at a meeting of the town’s council.. Officer Charles Williams is already patrolling the streets of the town on a shift and participating in events such as the Fall Festival that was held last week.

Williams is a native of Pelion, SC and still lives in that area. He graduated from Pelion High School and knew from a young age that he had a desire to become a policeman. Right after high school, Williams worked in the carpentry field and eventually opened his own remodeling business. The bug to be in law enforcement stayed with him, and he eventually was hired by a department, certified, and went to work in the field he knew had been calling him all his life.

Williams comes to South Congaree from the Wagener Police Department where he worked for about a year and a half. He said that he is excited to begin working for the larger department in South Congaree and is already learning about the community and its people. “I’ve already met some great people, and look forward to continue meeting more,” Williams said. “I really enjoyed working the Fall Festival and seeing how this town feels about its citizens, neighbors, and the families who live here.” In the coming weeks, he will continue to introduce himself to the people who own and run businesses around the town, and meet more of the citizens.

Williams has been married to his wife Sharon for 3 years, and the pair have a blended family of four girls that range from age 1 to 12. They still call Pelion their home. He still does some remodeling in his time off.
