Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) On Halloween night at around 7:30 p..m., a resident near the 300 block of Rushing Wind Drive in the Old Friarsgate subdivision was handing out candy to children when he were approached by a group of four teenagers. The group were in costume, dressed up as Michael Jackson, Jason, and other Halloween characters. As the homeowner prepared to give some of the candy from the bowl to the teens, one of the group grabbed the entire candy bowl from the resident and took off running along with three other teens in tow.

Irmo Police Officers responded to the home at the request of the resident. Based on the description given by the homeowner, officers quickly identified the teens. Many of the group were familiar to the officers because of interactions with the police department before.

According to Captain Courtney Dennis of the Irmo Police Department, officers circulated the area and quickly located the four teenagers who were all either 15 or 16 years of age. The department believes that these were the teens that were involved in the theft of the bowl and its contents. Investigators have been assigned to follow up on the case and make appropriate charges through Family Court due to the subjects' ages.
