Batesburg-Leesville Rotary Club kicks off their annual “Cheese Please” fundraiser

Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Batesburg-Leesville Rotary Club kicked off their annual cheese sale fundraiser at their normal lunch meeting Tuesday. Each year, members sells blocks of fine, aged, Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese just in time for the Thanksgiving cooks and upcoming Christmas gatherings. The blocks are 5 lbs. each and they can be bought singly or in boxes of two. They have both a medium and a sharp version of this delicious accompaniment to any meal, party or drop-in.

The cheese can be purchased from any member of the Rotary Club for $30 per 5 lb. block. They are also available at Economy Furniture at 120 Main St, Leesville, a fixture on that corner for decades, or at Shealy Reality which is located at 301 E Columbia Avenue in Leesville. These two sites have the cheese during normal business hours. You can also call Michael Shealy at (803)730-5298 to be put in touch with a member that can bring you some by.

Each year, the Rotary Club sells the cheese to raise funds for scholarships, donations to local food pantries, and other philanthropical efforts. It is done at this time of the year so that all of the wonderful cooks in the community will have the time to use it in preparation for their upcoming holiday meals; think gooey, stringy, stretchy, piping hot macaroni and cheese! It is also great for slicing or cubing for trays during events and parties, or if you’re just a bit hungry for a snack.

According to their website, Rotary International is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad. It is a great way to network with leaders in the community. The Batesburg-Leesville lunch group meets each Tuesday at noon at Angelo’s Greek and Italian Dining which is located at 333 Village Square Dr in Batesburg-Leesville, SC. Visitors are invited and encouraged to attend.
