Home damaged by fire in West Columbia
West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) An early morning fire damaged a small home on Taylor Street off Platt Springs Road just before 5:30 a.m. Firefighters from West Columbia, Lexington County, and Cayce responded.
First arriving units reported that they had flames coming from a window on one side of the home. The first arriving crews pulled their lines and made an attack while the second in engine laid a supply line from a fire hydrant near Platt Springs Road.
The fire was quickly brought under control by the crews. According to sources on the scene, the firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one room and its contents. There was smoke, heat, and water damage throughout the home.
Firefighters are still on the scene mopping up. The cause of the fire has not been released.
