North Royal Tower Drive in Irmo closed as officers investigate fatal crash

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – A fatal crash that occurred after 9 p.m. Friday night has closed North Royal Tower Drive in the 600 block in the town of Irmo while officers from the Irmo Police Department are on the scene investigating. Units from the coroner’s office are just arriving and the road may be closed for some time.

Several units from the Irmo Fire District responded as did Lexington County EMS. They have since left the scene and returned to their quarters.

Right now, officers are not letting anyone through. They will need to continue their investigation as will the officers from the coroner’s office before the road can be reopened.

It will be up to those representatives from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office to notify the next of kin of the deceased. Once that is done, the name of that person will be released to the public.
