Nominations are open for 2018 Tri-District Arts Consortium summer program
Irmo, SC - Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Tri-District Arts Consortium (TriDAC) summer program. Middle school students who attend Lexington-Richland School District Five, Lexington One and Richland Two are eligible to participate.
This year marks the 33rd year TriDAC has provided students with an outstanding and concentrated study of the arts through this summer program. The program is designed for artistically gifted and talented students who are rising sixth through ninth graders in the summer before the 2018-2019 school year. Students may audition in creative writing, dance, music (strings, vocal and wind/percussion), theatre or visual art.
“This is such an incredible experience not only for our students, but for the other two districts here as well,” said Tami Richardson, District Five’s coordinator for gifted programs. “We encourage all of our talented middle school arts students to apply. TriDAC’s theme is the arts make a difference, and it truly does. It is an experience they will never forget!”
The summer program will be held on the campus of the Palmetto Center for the Arts at Richland Northeast High School July 2 through July 21, 2018. Cost for the three weeks is $400.
Arts and classroom teachers, administrators or parents may nominate students. Nomination forms may be obtained from the front office at district elementary or middle schools, or by contacting Richardson at (803) 476-8167. Nominations are due by January 16, 2018.
