Michael Weaver to Run in Special Election for SC House

Conservative Weaver to Focus on Ethics Reform, Clearing up Traffic Congestion in Lexington

(Lexington, SC) – Today, Michael Weaver, a long time conservative activist and local attorney from Lexington, announced his Republican candidacy in the special election for the South Carolina House of Representatives District 69. Weaver filmed his announcement on the side of Highway 378 to highlight serious traffic congestion issues in Lexington and to detail his focus on this issue and on ethics reform. If elected, Weaver would replace former Representative Rick Quinn (R-Lexington), after pleading guilty to misconduct in office. Michael Weaver wants tougher penalties for corrupt politicians that betray the public trust, “We all deserve better than this. We need a representative who will fight for us, not the special interests.” If elected, Weaver will propose a bill to require mandatory jail time for any state elected official that breaks the public trust and is convicted on ethics charges,“these leaders have to understand they must be held accountable for their actions.” Weaver will also introduce a new term limits bill requiring specific limits for all elected officials. This will end the reign of career politicians and take away more power from the special interests who then bankroll those politicians. Most importantly, Michael Weaver will lead a local effort to fight for more infrastructure spending in the Lexington area. This area has seen a huge increase in business and residential growth and the local roads and bridges here are simply not adapting to these changes. In his new online video, Weaver says, “we need to make sure our state is lining our roads with pavement, rather than corrupt politicians’ pockets.” Michael Weaver is the father of two boys, Brayden and Brooks, and the husband of his high school sweetheart, Heather, who is a local small business owner. They attend St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Lexington. For more information about Michael Weaver and his conservative campaign for State House, please go to
