Teen dead following stabbing near Gaston

Gaston, SC - 3:53 p.m. (Paul Kirby) Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene where one young man is dead following a stabbing incident in the 700 block of Meadowfield Road. This is in the vicinity of the Sandhills Middle School which is closed due to the winter break. Firefighters and EMS crews responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the location where the crime occurred.

According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the sheriff’s department, they now have one person in custody as a suspect in the crime. Investigators from the sheriff’s department's Major Crimes unit and the coroner’s office are now also on the scene. Neighbors are reporting that family members are there at the home now, but are being kept clear of the area where the crime occurred.

The incident happened after 2 p.m. Thursday. The suspect in the crime is believed to have stabbed a young man to death and then fled the scene, Deputies quickly converged on the scene and a manhunt ensued. They had K9s on the ground, and the law enforcement officers quickly captured the person who they believe committed the crime.
