B-L High students participate in food tasting event
Batesburg-Leesville, SC - Around 25 honors students and members of Student Council at B-L High School had the privilege of participating in a food tasting event on Thursday, December 7th at their school.
Representatives from Cohen Foods prepared samples of possible new menu items such as chowmein, General Tso’s chicken, cheese-stuffed-crust pizza, maple pancake bites and breaded pork chops. Students sampled the food and then weighed in on whether they liked it or not and whether they thought it should be added to Lexington School District Three’s menus.
According to Lexington School District Three’s Food Services Department, the average daily participation for breakfast is around 767 students district-wide. For lunch, the average daily participation is 1,436 students, which is about 70% of the student population. Therefore, administrators say it’s important for students to have menu choices that they like and enjoy eating.
