Lexington County Coroner says one died on scene of horrendous crash on Amicks Ferry Rd. Saturday eve
Chapin, SC, (Paul Kirby) Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now said that a woman died on the scene of a collision that occurred Saturday afternoon as the sun was setting near Chapin. Firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the wreck at Amicks Ferry Road and Lake Tide Drive and quickly began to treat the patients involved, but one succumbed to the injuries she received on the scene. Fisher has now identified that individual who died as Ms. Nelva S. Lindler, 82, of Chapin.
Ms. Lindler, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was in a car that was travelling south on Amicks Ferry Road when it was struck in the side by another vehicle. That unit was making a left turn onto Lake Tide Drive when it struck the car Ms. Lindler was riding in. Ms. Lindler was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.
Firefighters stayed on the scene of the accident for several hours after it occurred. They assisted law enforcement with blocking the road, and also providing lights during the initial investigation by the coroner and troopers.
