Irmo PD investigating possible shots fired case

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Irmo PD are looking into an incident that occurred behind the old Bi-Lo store at Broad River Road and Woodrow Street in the town. This is in what’s known as the Friarsgate Plaza. According to Captain Courtney Dennis, spokesman for the Irmo PD, someone reported that they heard a shot fired in the vicinity and notified police.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a subject in a pickup truck behind the store. That suspect denied he shot at anyone, and instead claimed he was the victim, and another suspect had shot at him. The truck has now been confirmed stolen out of Calhoun County. Irmo officers do say that there appears to be a bullet hole in the truck the man was in. At this point, police have not said what the suspect claims he was doing meeting someone behind the store.

Irmo officers say they believe that a black Chevrolet Impala may have been involved in the incident as well. According to Captain Dennis, that car may have fresh body damage to it. As of approximately 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, that vehicle and its occupants hadn’t been located.
