Cayce home destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – A home in the 400 block of Hudson Avenue in Cayce was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon. The call was dispatched just a few moments past 4:00 p.m. First arriving public safety officers reported that they had heavy flames and smoke coming from the single-family home in the Riverland Park area of the city.

City of Cayce officials quickly requested assistance with the fire from the cities of Columbia and West Columbia. Both departments responded with trucks and personnel. The combined teams quickly brought the fire under control. Lexington County EMS was also on the scene for standby, and SCE&G was requested to secure the home's power.

A large section of the home’s roof was burned through as a result of the fire. Most of the interior was also heavily damaged by the flames, smoke, and water.

As of this writing, the cause of the fire hadn’t been determined. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
