Irmo Fire District personnel assist Columbia with 2nd alarm fire at strip club Wednesday morning

Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) The Irmo Fire District sent personnel and equipment to assist the city of Columbia Fire Department with a second alarm blaze at a rather famous strip club in the city Wednesday morning. The alarm for assistance was transmitted shortly before daybreak sending the trucks, firefighters, and Irmo’s battalion chief to Platinum Plus on Jacobs Rd. off Stoneridge Dr. That strip or “Gentlemen’s Club”has been in business in that spot for many years.

Irmo firefighters joined the Columbia crews to battle the blaze that was reported as a working fire when they arrived on the scene. Columbia’s officer transmitted the 2nd alarm for more resources after realizing the extent of the fire. Irmo has an auto-aid agreement with the city and together the two departments work seamlessly to send the closest manpower and equipment regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.

The Irmo fire resources were returning to their quarters not long after daybreak. A Lexington County fire engine and crew were moved into the Irmo District while its resources were committed.
