Ledger's legal analyst now associated with Price Benowitz LLP

West Columbia, SC - Dayne Phillips, a proud native and resident of Lexington County, is the legal analyst of The Lexington Ledger and frequent guest on its live streaming program, Good Morning Lexington County. Born and raised in Pine Ridge, he graduated from Airport High School in 2003 and the University of South Carolina in 2007. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010 and graduated from the National Criminal Defense College’s Trial Practice Institute in Macon, Georgia.

He is now aligned himself as an attorney at Price Benowitz LLP, where his practice focuses on the areas of criminal defense and appellate litigation. He has argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, and he has defended the accused in felony jury trials. Notably, he received the 2015 “Top 10 under 40 award in South Carolina” by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Dayne is passionate about his work and handles cases in all aspects of criminal law, including drug offences, DUI, domestic violence, and gun offences.

He is also the current President of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and an Eleventh Circuit Representative on the SC Bar Association’s House of Delegates. He has taught at the Orientation School for Magistrate and Municipal Judges and has lectured on topics such as constitutional rights, motions practice, and preserving issues for appellate review. Dayne is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and National College for DUI Defense.

Regarding his home and private life Dayne says, "Most importantly, I’m a husband to an amazing woman, a loyal friend, and avid Gamecock fan." The couple have a daughter that is a toddler which keeps them busy. "Simply put, I’m living the American dream," Phillips said recently.
