West Columbia PD charges woman with attempted murder after domestic related shooting
West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – An Elgin woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after a shooting this morning in West Columbia. According to Assistant Police Chief Scott Morrison, Cassandra Lane Jeffers, 27, has been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder after she shot a man at a motel on Charleston Highway just before 5:00 a.m.
Morrison said that the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation. Jeffers shot the man in the abdomen, seriously injuring him. He was rushed to Palmetto Richland’s trauma center where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet today. Jeffers has been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where she is awaiting a bond hearing.
