South Congaree swears in new police officer, victim's advocate, & SRO
South Congaree, SC (Jimmy Poluszek) - On Tuesday night, the South Congaree Police Department added a new officer to their force. Officer Jon Silkcox was sworn in as the department’s brand-new victims' advocate. He will also serve as the Congaree Elementary school resource officer.
Silkcox has been in law enforcement for 21 years. He mostly recently served in Saluda before being added to the force in South Congaree. Currently he lives just outside the Three Fountain area with his wife and two children. This job brings him much closer to home and a community he knows well.
According to Police Chief Josh Shumpert, Silkcox says that he’s, “very excited to be on the team.” Shumpert said that the residents of the town of South Congaree can rest easy knowing that their Police Department is strengthened by the hiring of a man with Silkcox’s experience. Shumpert said he has all the confidence in the world that he will do a great job and will be an integral part of the South Congaree team.
