Ginny Lane traffic backs up after car overturns Monday afternoon
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) Ginny Lane in Lexington, the busy road that is the access to both Meadow Glen schools, was closed yesterday afternoon after a small car that was involved in an accident turned over on its roof, trapping an occupant for at least a few moments. A Town of Lexington police officer arrived quickly and helped the occupants crawl from the vehicle.
Lexington County EMS dispatched an ambulance, a supervisor, and the fire service dispatched a number of units because of the reported entrapment. Once the first trucks arrived from nearby Corley Mill Fire Station and the crews realized the wouldn’t need to extricate patients, much of the fire service equipment was released to return to their quarters. Several people were transported to a local medical facility to be checked out, but any injuries were thought to be minor.
Police officer, firefighters, and the employees of the tow company worked quickly to clear the wreck from Ginny Lane. It is the only access to the schools and other businesses that sit alongside I-20 in that very busy area and traffic backs up quickly when it’s blocked or closed for any reason.
