Lexington PD apprehends two near Target and Discount Tire after short pursuit

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) The Lexington Police Department quickly tracked down several suspects who were believed to have been shoplifting from the Target on Sunset Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. According to Corporal Cameron Mortenson, spokesman for the police department, the duo was arrested and later booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.

The male and female subjects were spotted by employees taking some items from inside the store and leaving without paying. When the police were notified and arrived very quickly, the female suspect fled by vehicle leaving her male counterpart behind. She initiated a short pursuit with officers right on her tail. They ended up at nearby Victorian Lakes mobile home park. At that point, she got out and ran on foot, but the officers quickly caught her a short time later. She was then placed under arrest.

The woman’s male accomplice saw the officers and took off running on foot from Target. He tried to hide in a wooded area nearby, but officers quickly surrounded that area and were eventually able to apprehend him too. The pair will face a bond hearing soon on a number of charges stemming from the incident.
