Firefighters bring Sunday mobile home fire under control quickly near Three Fountains; Five adults a
Three Fountains, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home fire off Greenfields Road near Eargle Drive was brought under control quickly by county firefighters Sunday morning. The fire was reported about 7:30 a.m. and the first fire units reported about six minutes later. 25 % of the home was involved in fire when they arrived.
Trucks came from across a large portion of central Lexington County as there were no fire hydrants close to the home for water supply. A tanker truck even responded from the Lake Murray station of Hwy. 378 west of Lexington. They were released by the fire commander because the fire was controlled so quickly.
The first arriving crews mustered enough manpower to make an interior attack, seeking out the base of the fire. Exterior personnel quickly set up a fan to push the smoke and heat out of the home once the flames were controlled. As soon as the water was applied, the fan was used.
The EMS crew on scene was checking on the occupants of the home, but it didn’t appear as if there were any life-threatening injuries. The utilities company was also requested to disconnect the electric service from the home. The America Red Cross was notified to assist the five adults and three children that were displaced as a result of the fire.
The fires were marked out at 8:02 a.m. but firefighters remained on the scene overhauling the fire and salvaging what belongings they could.
