Fire destroys mobile home near Samaria

Samaria, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning in the Samaria area of the county. The fire was reported in the 100 block of Haven Road near Samaria Highway between I-20 and Batesburg-Leesville.

Firefighters responded from across the county but when the first units arrived, they reported that the mobile home was fully-involved and basically had burned to the ground. This sometimes happens when homes are located in very rural areas where the fire may not be easily visible from a well-traveled road.

Fire crews used tanker trucks supply water to pumpers who them pumped it on the smoldering remains until the fire was completely out. The teams stayed there for some time working on clearing up the last hot spots so the fire wouldn’t rekindle.

Lexington County hasn’t released the cause of the fire or said if anyone lived in the home and where they were when the home burned.
