Resident heard two distinct gunshots as West Columbia PD investigating earlier Saturday shooting

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) One person was transported to the hospital after a shooting on Steele Drive in West Columbia. Investigators from the West Columbia PD are looking into the shooting incident that happened about 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Steele Drive.

According to the police, a unknown person fired multiple shots into a home, hitting a woman in her leg. Assistant Police Scott Chief Morrison said they believe there were at least two individuals involved in the shooting. A witness that lives about a half mile away said he was outside at the time, and he heard what he thought were two distinct and different shots from two different guns. He thought the shots were coming from nearer to the SCDOT maintenance depot on Glenn Street from where he lives just off Platt Springs Road. That state property is near Steele Drive. Two
