Mobile home burns on Woodby Lane of Sangaree Drive Thursday afternoon

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) A double-wide mobile home burned in the 100 block of Woodby Lane off Sangaree Drive Thursday afternoon shortly before 5:30 p.m. This is close to Hwy. 321 south between Gaston and Cayce.

When the first firefighters arrived from Lexington County, they reported that approximately 25% of the home was already engulfed in flames. As more units arrived on the scene, the firefighters pulled their hoses and went on the attack. They used tanker trucks from many of the stations across the south region to carry water from a fire hydrant to the scene. By the time they had gathered enough manpower on the scene to make an aggressive attack and set up their water supply, about half of the home was burning. When they began fighting the fire, they had it under control in about 20 minutes.

The county has not said if anyone was displaced by the fire or released its cause.
