Fire damages home on Shuler Street in West Columbia Friday night

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) Fire damaged a single-family home in the 300 block of Shuler Street in West Columbia Friday night. The fire brought firefighters from West Columbia, Lexington County, and the City of Columbia rushing to the blaze around 9:00 p.m. First arriving crews reported there were flames coming out of the rear of the home when they arrived.

The firefighters from West Columbia’s first trucks on the scene geared up, pulled their attack lines, and went to work. At least one team entered the home quickly dousing the fire with water at its base. In a matter of minutes, they had brought the fire under control.

The West Columbia firefighters were assisted by resources from Lexington County and the City of Columbia. They were dispatched through the city’s automatic aid agreements that have been in place between jurisdictions for years.
