Tylar Rose cuts ribbon as CWC Chamber joins them to make their grand opening official

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) - Tylar Rose, formerly Trendy Kids in Triangle City, held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday evening to officially open their moved and revamped store. It is now open within a few blocks of its old location at 1230 C Avenue in West Columbia, SC. It had been formerly located at the intersection of 12th Street and C Avenue in a strip of shops. The new store is free standing.

Tylar Rose is owned by Rhonda Dinkins and her family. She, her husband Steve, and their two daughters Macy and Madison are in the business together. There’s also a grandaughter in training for the day she will be old enough to take her place in the business. Together the family sells beautiful formal and evening wear, shoes, and accessories for young ladies as well as tuxedos and other attire for young men. Inside the shop there is also a great selection of pageant wear, some of which was on live display as a number of crowned beauty queens were in attendance and strolled through the displays politely speaking and shaking hands or posing for photos. The store even has a gorgeous assortment of bows, jewelry, hats, and other beautiful items for the upcoming Easter celebration.

Tylar Rose serves customers looking for everything from a single dress for a night on the town to multiple dresses for a wedding or quinceañera, the celebration of an Hispanic girl’s 15thbirthday. These huge formal parties can have as many as 28 formal members of the honoree’s party as attendants. Dresses and other formal attire can range from just over $100 to as much as $900 plus, dependent upon taste, budget, and what one is shopping for.

When you walk in the door at Tylar Rose, a beautiful array of colors surrounds you. It’s as if you’ve strolled into an exotic flower garden where there is every hue of the rainbow present and ruffles, frills, and bows are literally everywhere, although they are hanging in orderly rows by size and design. If you allow the colors to permeate your eyes, you can almost imagine the smell of tropical flowers as the colorful clothing took me away from a blustery afternoon to some beautiful, warm, tropical place. It really is a delightful sight even for a rough, tuff, bearded man who has three daughters and can appreciate the beauty and smile that a new dress can bring out in a child’s face.

Richard Skipper, the executive director of the Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce acted as the master of ceremonies for the ribbon cutting and said that Tylar Rose would make a great addition to the Triangle City area. He was glad that Dinkins and her family had bought the existing business and refreshed and revitalized it so that it remained an important part of the community that had seen a renewal over the past years. Skipper has only presided over a few of these types of events since taking the helm of the chamber, but if this event was any indication of his effort to boost support for area businesses, there will be many more successful launches to come in the near future.

Tylar Rose has ample parking and easy access off C Avenue right in the heart of Triangle City. It is within a block of Zestos, an iconic landmark in the older part of West Columbia. Their hours are Tuesday thru Friday from 10 am until 6 pm, Saturday from 10 am until 5. Sunday from 1 to 5 pm, and they are closed on Monday. You can reach them by phone at (803) 739-0053.
