Sheriff’s investigators trying to find who was involved in serious assault on Gardners Terrace Rd
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an assault that gravely injured a man in the 500 block of Gardners Terrace Road Friday evening. This assault happened around 6:15 p.m. sending deputies, a fire engine, and EMS personnel to the scene. Gardners Terrace Road runs parallel to Hwy. 321 south from the SC Farmers’ Market back up to the intersection of Glenn Road and Hwy. 321.
Details are very limited at this time, but we do know that the man was transported to the trauma center at Palmetto Richland with very serious injuries. Family members and friends of the man say that he was apparently attacked with an object that caused the wounds that most seriously injured him. They did not say if anyone knew if he had been involved in an altercation or if he had some ongoing issue that might have eventually led to this violence. One friend who contacted The Ledger asked that the community simply pray for him.
The sheriff’s department has acknowledged that they are working to find out who was involved, but they haven’t said much else. For some time, they had an area of Gardners Terrace Road blocked while investigators were doing their job. Colby Gallagher, a spokesperson for the sheriff, said that the department would provide more updates as they could.
