Sheriff’s investigators on the scene of a shots fired call near Leesville Sunday afternoon
Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a civil dispute with a report of shots fired off Dixieland Trail Sunday afternoon right after the strong storms passed over the area. Dixieland Trail runs off Augusta Road right at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church just east of the town of Batesburg-Leesville.
Originally, firefighters from Batesburg-Leesville and EMS personnel from Lexington County were dispatched along with the deputies from the West Region. The medically trained personnel stood by on Augusta Road while the deputies went into the scene to ensure it was safe for them to proceed in. Once law enforcement discovered that no one had been injured in the incident, the firefighters and others were cleared to return to their quarters.
Colby Gallagher, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, said that even though there are no injuries reported in the incident, they did have investigators on the scene working to determine what happened. She also said there have been no arrests at this time.
