Lexington PD investigating threats regarding school over SnapChat
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Last night, Lexington Police Department officers took a report of a threat of violence sent through SnapChat. In that threat, there was the suggestion that some act of violence would happen today at Lexington Middle School. Overnight, officers worked to verify this threat.
On Tuesday, the police department tweeted over their Twitter account that the threat made through SnapChat to Lexington Middle was continuing to be investigated. As a precaution, Chief Green directed officers to be at all Lexington One schools within the Town of Lexington. In their social media post, the department said that they take all online threats seriously. As a result of their commitment to keeping students safe, they have partnered with S.L.E.D. to bring this case to a conclusion. At this point, the LPD has not announced any arrest and more information regarding this is imminent. We will continue to update this if and when more information becomes available.
