Lexington, SC (Misty Jones) O’Hara’s Irish Public House held its grand opening this weekend on Main Street in Lexington. Spirits were high Saturday night and O'Hara's was overflowing with nightlife! This is a family owned and operated business run by Matt O'Hara, Brian Reisover, and Arlen Wingard, who were all present at the grand opening this weekend.

For some time, Matt has had a vision to offer an authentic Irish pub on American soil. From the menu to the décor, O’Hara’s is just that, a real public house like you might find lining the streets of Dublin. It features a custom Irish décor and traditions and Matt’s and the other owners’ goal is to offer the community a place to get together, put down their phones, talk to one another, and socialize!

Over the past three summers, Matt visited Ireland to get ideas and study the culture. While there, he visited almost 100 different pubs as he planned to bring a part of Ireland to Lexington in the form of his dream pub. You can see many touches from Ireland when you visit O’Hara’s on Main Street. From the restored ceilings reminiscent of traditional Irish pubs, the cozy seating, and the snug room, it’s all right here. The snug room dates back to the 40's and 50's where there was a room the husbands could take their mistresses to dine with and not be seen. It features a window on the outside, with privacy glass, a fireplace, and a green light that you can switch on from the inside so that someone will fetch you a fresh beverage!

Much of the remodeling was done by the owners’ themselves. They did as much recycling of older materials as they could. There’s lighting from an old church sanctuary, windows, and a 200-year-old door in the entrance that was salvaged from a farm estate; it’s all beautiful, authentic, and Irish! Out front, they have open air seating at the storefront windows where you can enjoy a beverage, sip a pint, and take in the activity along Main Street. In the back there’s patio seating where you can dine and enjoy drinks too. When you enter, on the left side of the pub there’s a bar and on the right side is restaurant style seating; Take your pick depending on how you feel!

O’Hara’s is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. They offer live music on Thursday and Saturdays and will soon be offering brunch on Sundays from 10-2 in a family friendly atmosphere. Bring your friends and come try Lexington's only authentic Irish pub, an establishment committed to honoring guests and customers in a fashion just like you’d experience in the Emerald Isle. O’Hara’s is located at 131 E Main Street in Lexington, SC.
