Five-year-old girl struck on I-20 passes away

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) A child that was involved in a vehicle accident last month on I-20 has passed away, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher confirmed Friday that the child who was hit by a vehicle on I-20 westbound near mile marker 57 at approximately 12:50 a.m. on April 27, 2018 has now succumbed to her injuries.

Fisher said in her statement that Miss T’liyah Lebronah-Janae Bell, 5, of Aiken was pronounced dead at an area hospital on May 3, 2018 as a result of her injuries. Fisher said that the vehicle Bell was a passenger in hydroplaned, struck a shoulder barrier, turned around, and began slowly traveling into oncoming traffic because the cruise control of the vehicle was stuck. The driver and an adult occupant of the vehicle were able to extract Bell who they then placed against the shoulder barrier away from traffic flow. While they were working to remove a second child from the vehicle, Bell wandered into the roadway and was struck by another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle immediately stopped to render aid. Bell was transported to a hospital where doctors did everything they could to save her, but eventually her injuries took her life.
