Coroner identifies 61-year-old woman killed in Wednesday morning collision
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman who died on the scene of a vehicle collision that occurred in the 3500 block of Augusta Highway near Gilbert Wednesday morning. According to Fisher, Margaret Anne Burke, 61, of Batesburg was pronounced dead at the scene.
In Fisher’s statement released to the press she said that Burke was traveling north on Augusta Highway when she was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. Burke was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with what is reported to be serious injuries.
The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
