Reported assault victim transported from Pelion with serious injuries

Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) – A man in his mid-thirties who was believed to have been assaulted was transported Wednesday from the Pelion Family Practice on Pine Street in Pelion to a hospital in serious condition. According to sources close to the situation, the man was transported by Lexington EMS running lights and siren to an undisclosed medical facility in the Midlands.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s department is checking into the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault. He did not have any information that could be released at this time; however, witnesses that were at Pelion Family Practice when the young man was brought in told the staff that the people with him said they found him alongside a dirt road in the county. They claimed to have picked him up and taken him to the doctor’s office for treatment of multiple injuries. Others said that investigators were talking with the people in hopes of gaining further information.
