Altercation on Lexington Two bus quickly controlled by staff
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) - Two female students got into a physical altercation on a Lexington School District Two bus Tuesday that caused the driver to stop the bus and ask for help from supervisory staff. This happened on the afternoon route near Busbee and Pasture Roads between Pine Ridge and Gaston.
According to Dawn Kujawa, spokeswoman for the district, when the fight started, the driver of the bus pulled over and called the route supervisor, as is procedure. The route supervisor arrived, boarded the bus and spoke with the two students regarding their behavior. The two girls were allowed to stay on the bus and were taken home because the incident happened close to the end of the bus’s route.
Kujawa said there were no injuries that required treatment to anyone on the bus and at no point was the bus driver assaulted during the incident. She also said that no other outside agency responded or was needed to bring the situation under control.
According to Kujawa, the incident will be looked into further to decide if any possible disciplinary actions against the students are necessary. Federal and state laws prohibit the dissemination of the result of any disciplinary action taken against a minor student by the school district to anyone other than a parent or legal guardian.
