Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) - An SUV overturned on Hwy 321 South just north of the center of Gaston Tuesday afternoon trapping one in the twisted wreck and sending two to the hospital. The accident, which happened around 3:00 p.m., occurred near Big Country Mobile Home Park.
Lexington County’s 911 center immediately dispatched EMS, the fire service and law enforcement when they received the call. Several units responded from the Gaston Police Department and began to report what they had found to their dispatchers. As more units from other agencies arrived, they requested Ladder Five out of South Congaree which responded with the Jaws of Life. When they arrived, they immediately began to extricate the victim. Law enforcement agencies and the fire service units blocked one northbound lane of Hwy 321 until the wreck could be cleaned up.
Eventually, EMS transported the two injured patients from the scene to an area hospital. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating and was assisted by Gaston PD and deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
