River Bluff falls to Dorman in a 7-0 shutout, forces one more game on Saturday

Roebuck, SC (Paul Kirby) River Bluff was shut out by Dorman last night in a game that was held despite the threatening weather. Clouds darkened the skies and there were questions surrounding many of the games that were postponed because of rain earlier in the week. Wednesday’s fall forces another game in the third of a best-of-three series for the SC State Boys’ HS Baseball Class AAAAA championship series. The Dorma Cavaliers’ win ties the series at one all and forced the third game which is to be scheduled to be played at Lander University this coming Saturday.

The boys from the Bluff are known for their ability to play well during adversity and folks from Lexington County are hoping that Saturday’s game will be no exception. River Bluff Head Coach Mark Bonnette has never been one to lack confidence in his Gators and he doesn’t appear to be worried now. Bonnette said the team will have a few days to practice and prepare and they will be ready to give Dorman more of what they dished out in game one where River Bluff had nine runners round the diamond. River Bluff could only manage one hit last night by Grant Brittingham, and they couldn’t manage to turn that into points on the board.

Dorman was strong defensively and their offense was impressive too. They pulled their starting pitcher Tanner McAllister after 5, presumedly to save his arm for Saturday’smatchup. Offensively, Dylan Rogers also had two solo homers and Hunter Smith and Hunter Pruitt each brought in two more runs for the Cavaliers.

The game time for Saturday will be announced later Thursday.
