South Congaree police corporal does a good deed for stranded citizen
South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) – South Congaree Police Department’s Corporal Patrick Clemens was caught on camera while doing a good deed for a stranded citizen on Thursday. According to the citizen reporting this, Clemens was helping an older woman who was in a pinch.
The woman who snapped the picture said she had stopped at the Dollar General on Main Street to pick something up when she noticed that a South Congaree Police Cruiser had pulled in and the officer was doing something down near the front of an elderly woman’s car. After looking further, she found that South Congaree Police Department Corporal Patrick Clemens was down at the wheel of the woman’s car changing a flat tire for the woman. “I was pleasantly surprised,” the citizen said of the act of service she saw. “I knew that police officers were here to help but I guess I never really thought about how far the police would go to help do whatever to be helpful to us,” she said. “It was very hot and humid, and the officer eventually had to stand up and remove some of his gear, but he finished changing that lady’s tire so she could get home,” she concluded.
South Congaree Police Chief Josh Shumpert has said that his officers are here to serve the community, not just write tickets and enforce the law. Officers are on-duty and are always on the look out for ways to serve not just protect. Clemens was promoted to the rank of Corporal in September of 2016.
