Swim advisory issued for Lower Saluda River
Lexington, SC - Three Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples collected on Wednesday, May 16th came back above the standard for swimming at the following sites: River's Edge, Saluda USGS Gage Station, and Riverbanks Zoo Bridge. A swimming advisory is being issued for the section of the Lower Saluda River from I-20 to the confluence. Follow-up sampling is being conducted today (5/17) and those results will be reported tomorrow afternoon.
Contact recreation (swimming, wading, tubing, paddling) is not recommended in the advisory area. At risk groups (including children, people with compromised immune systems, and people with open wounds) should use extreme caution.
