Lexington PD asking for help locating thieving trucker
Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) The Lexington Police Department is asking the public if they know who was driving a tractor-trailer tuck after its driver stole a trailer loaded with valuable materials recently. According to the police investigator, a truck driver pulled into a Shell gas station and truck stop at Augusta Road (Hwy 1) and I-20, unhitched a truck from its load, attached his own truck to a flatbed trailer that was fully loaded, and then he drove away into the night. His truck was however, caught on video surveillance several times.
After leaving the town of Lexington station, the truck is thought to have gotten on I-20 west and driven down to the Pond Branch exit at the 44 mile-marker in Lexington County. There he exited the interstate and turned into the back lot of the 44 Truck Stop at Juniper Springs and Pond Branch Roads.
The police are hoping that someone might recognize the tractor that was used in the theft and know who was behind the wheel. The truck was well lit with custom lighting down its side, has a distinctive two-tone paint scheme, and a high-top sleeper. If you have any idea who the driver was, please contact Detective Beza with the Lexington PD at 803-358-1414 with that information.
