Multi vehicle accident closes I-20 East

Lexington, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - Dispatch was called at approximately 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 31 for a collision with entrapment at Interstate 20 East at mile marker 63 near the Bush River Road exit.

It was a multi vehicle collision that had I-20 East completely blocked for over an hour. However, only one lane was opened and units remained on the scene for another two hours. The eastbound lanes were not completely cleared until approximately 4:00 pm.

Irmo Fire District responded with mutual aid from Lexington County Fire Service. Patients were taken to area hospital but no information about their condition has been release.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
