Sheriff’s Department calls search for suspect who ran from traffic stop near Swansea

Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has called off the search for a man that ran after a deputy tried to pull him over for a traffic violation. According to witnesses in the area, the search had centered around an area close to the Swansea Hardware Store off South Bound Road near the I.W. Hutto Road intersection.

According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for the department, the man was simply being stopped for a traffic violation but refused to pull over and initiated a pursuit with the deputy. The pursuit only went a short distance before the man stopped and fled the car on foot. K-9s were deployed, but after a short time the track was called off. Investigators are working on other leads in an attempt to find and arrest the suspect.
