Showing of best-loved baseball film The Sandlot set for Saturday evening at Chapin’s Melvin Park
1993 movie will screen at approximately 8:45 at park, located at 370A S Eptings Camp Road
Chapin,SC (James Bowers) The summer movie series continues at Melvin Park Friday, with a screening of the classic youth baseball film The Sandlot. The 1993 picture captures a new kid bonding with his peers during seemingly endless pickup baseball games in the summer of 1962. It is one of the most popular sports films ever made. and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Given the fact that Chapin High won the AAAA State Baseball title, it is a fitting choice for screening at Melvin Park.
Screening will begin at 8:45 pm, but the event starts at 7pm.
Kids can enjoy the “splash pad,” a popular water feature in the park, for just $1.00 and a food truck will provide some eats for the family. Pelican’s Snowballs will be there to provide refreshments during the warm evening.
