Special election for Chapin council seat set for September 11th
Chapin, SC (Connor Radtke) – The town of Chapin will hold a special election for the council seat of former council member Preston Baines who recently resigned. Baines said that he had moved out of the town making him ineligible to serve any longer. The election will take place on Tuesday, September 11. The polls will open at the Chapin Town Hall at 7:00 am and will remain open until 7:00 pm.
Citizens who wish to become candidates for this upcoming election may file at the Lexington County Registration and Elections office locate at 605 W Main St # 105, Lexington, SC. The filing fee for this position is $25 payable by checks or money orders payable to the Town of Chapin. In order to qualify as a candidate for office, you must be a resident of the Town of Chapin and be a qualified elector.
Books will be open for filing at noon on June 29, 2018 and remain open during regular business hours. The Statement of Intention of Candidacy must be filed with the Lexington County Voter Registration no later than 12:00 pm on July 9, 2018. The Statement of Economic Interest and Campaign disclosure forms must be filed on-line at http://ethics.sc.gov.
Town residents desiring to vote in the upcoming election must be registered by August 12, 2018. Applications must be post-marked no later than August 13, 2018.
