Individual jumps from Piney Grove overpass into I-26 traffic

Irmo, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - All lanes but one were closed on Interstate 26 at Piney Grove Road due to someone jumping from the Piney Grove Road overpass into westbound traffic Tuesday, June 19 at approximately 3:00 pm.

The person was transported to a nearby hospital, and no other information on their condition or injuries is available.

Numerous first responders and emergency vehicles were on the scene, including the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. All lanes were opened back up at approximately 3:40 pm.
