Informational session on Chapin’s Columbia Avenue project set for Tuesday afternoon at Chapin Town H
Chapin, SC (Paul Kirby) - A public information meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. in Chapin for the community to have another opportunity to learn more about the widening of Columbia Avenue (S-48) and how it will change the community. The informational session will be held at the town hall.
There have already been multiple opportunities for the public to comment on this project that has been on the drawing board for years. In 2017, there was another public session held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where a standing-room-only crowd could look at the drawings, go over data, ask questions, and even see a video of how integral parts of the project would work.
The meeting on Tuesday is being organized at the suggestion of first-term Mayor David Knight. He honestly said that before the election, he only paid attention to the little portion of Columbia Avenue in front of his home near Mt. Horeb Church. Now, he just wants to make sure everyone is well informed before the project moves forward.
Everyone is invited to attend and come look at the charts and maps and ask questions of the people who have been key in designing this project. It will be the perfect opportunity for you to keep up-to-date with what’s on the drawing board if you live or work in the Chapin area.
