Rivers Coalition announces river water-quality advisory

Columbia, SC - Three Midlands Rivers Coalition water quality samples collected on Wednesday, June 27th came back above the standard for swimming at the following sites: Saluda at I-20, River's Edge, and Saluda USGS Gage Station. A swimming advisory is being issued for the section of the Lower Saluda River downstream of the lower landing at Saluda Shoals Park to the pedestrian bridge at Riverbanks Zoo. Follow-up sampling is being conducted today (6/28) and those results will be reported tomorrow afternoon.

Contact recreation (swimming, wading, tubing, paddling) is not recommended in the advisory area. At risk groups (including children, people with compromised immune systems, and people with open wounds) should use extreme caution.
